Loki (season 1)

The first season of the American television series Loki is based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. It is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but it is the first project of the franchise to be set outside of the main timeline, as it is set in the Time Variance Authority (TVA), a place outside of time. Loki is sent there because he escaped his timeline in Avengers: Endgame (2019) and has to help TVA to defeat an different version of himself, known as a "variant". It is the first MCU project to be about the Multiverse, which also had a big role in the TV series What If...? (2021–) and the movies Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023), and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine (2024). Tom Hiddleston stars as Loki, returning from the MCU movies. Kang the Conqueror, the main villain of the Multiverse Saga, makes his first appearance in the season, played by Jonathan Majors.

The season premiered on Disney+ on June 9, 2021 and ended on July 14, after six episodes.^[1] It is part of Phase Four of the MCU. It got positive reviews. A second season was released in 2023.
